Services at St. Paul's
We really enjoy gathering together to meet with God at St Paul's!
We have a range of different services through the month to help people encounter God in different ways. Some are traditional, some contemporary and some are creative and designed for families to get involved.
We hope to provide opportunities to find a quiet space in the week to be still, reflect and be in God's presence as well as times for lively worship, creative activities and sharing in refreshments - where we can encourage each other and explore our faith together.
On your arrival you can park either in front of, or behind, The Old School (there is a turning right by the bus stop). We have ramped access to The Old School, where there is a disabled toilet and baby changing table. There is a portable ramp for the church (but we are fund raising to get a permanent one!)
8am (on 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month)
The 8am service is one of our traditional acts of worship. It is a communion service and is a lovely quiet start to the day. We are friendly, and welcome visitors and new people, but will give you space to be quiet too! There are no hymns but we do have a short reflection on the Bible passage. The service lasts about 40 minutes.
10am (every Sunday)
The 10am service is a more informal service. You will get a warm welcome from our congregation of all ages. There are children's groups where we want to help them encounter God and grow in their faith and we also encourage our children to get involved in serving too! We sing a mix of worship songs and hymns at this service. The service is relaxed and encourages everyone to join in, serve and support one another as we encounter God together. The service is about 1 hour and 15 minutes long and has refreshments afterwards where we can continue to share, encourage and get to know one another.
We have communion at the 10am service on the 2nd and 4th Sundays and on the 2nd Sunday the children come back and join us too (we have a number of children prepared to receive communion)
On the 1st Sunday of every month we have our special family service called "Wake Up and Shake Up". The children stay in for this service and we enjoy being more creative and have been known to have acting / puppets / cooking and craft as part of these acts of worship.
Sunday Pause @ 7pm (bimonthly) Starting 23rd February
Come and explore podcasts!
Cafe Church (once per term) 6.45/7pm
This service takes place in the Old School Hall and includes cafe style refreshments while we take time to worship, discuss and share a topic, pray for one another in an informal and relaxed way. We aim to be finished by 9pm
Evensong (once per term) 4pm
This service helps us prepare for Advent, Lent and the summer with a lovely opportunity to reflect in silence. We use a CD, so have high quality music during the service and space to be quiet. There is no talk but we have 2 Bible readings to reflect on
Do join us any Sunday for either of these services! It is great to encourage each other and set time aside to meet with God in our busy lives.
Wednesday 10am (every week)
This is a lovely traditional communion service which provides an oasis in the middle of the week! We have a mix of ages attending this service which lasts about 45 minutes. It includes a traditional hymn and a short refection on a Bible passage
Messy Church 4-6pm (Third Thursday of the month)
Our Messy Church is great fun for all ages. We have families from our toddler group, from the infant school and from junior schools attending as well as secondary aged young people helping! We try to mix games, craft, science and activities to help us explore a Bible story and see how it helps us grow in faith as we encounter God together. We finish with a meal and charge £1 per person to help cover the cost of this - or you can bring a packed tea. We can cope with allergies - just let us know in advance!
